Elise Boysun, volunteer manager at the center, joined Kristin Doneski, teen center supervisor; Greg Perchik, teen services coordinator; and Ray Hepler, resource development assistant, in accepting the donations.
The Girl Scouts included Libby Verdelli, Isabel Libby, Cassidy Cowan, Sophia Tuchinsky, Audrey Leavitt and Abby MacFarlane.
The clothing drive was held on Saturday, June 7, at St. Ansgar Lutheran Church, 515 Woodford St., Portland. The girls also raised $52 from a bake sale that day. Artists and Craftsmen of Portland donated canvas, and Best Buy provided earbuds.
Scout Leader MaryAnn Delsandro said the Bronze Award is the highest award available to Junior Girl Scouts. Also assisting was co-leader Susan Wiggin. Their project was to help the Preble Street Teen Center with some of their needs. The girls made a new "welcome" sign, held their extremely successful community "teen clothing drive/bake sale," purchased two Yogibo chairs for the Teen Center and obtained a full-length mirror for their clothes closet, she said. The furniture was from the Yogibo Furniture Store in South Portland.
