Gubernatorial candidates Mike Michaud and Eliot Cutler are among the candidates for public office scheduled to visit the Preble Street Resource Center this fall as part of the 20th annual "You Don’t Need a Home to Vote" Candidates’ Breakfast series, Homeless Voices for Justice announced.
The local advocacy group has invited candidates for local, statewide and national offices to participate in a series of voter education forums at the Preble Street Resource Center Dining Room, 252 Oxford St. These events will offer candidates the opportunity to meet with residents of Portland who are homeless and/or living in poverty over breakfast and respond to their questions and concerns.
The schedule is as follows: Candidates running for the Maine State Legislature, representing Portland: Tuesday, Sept. 23, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.; Michaud, candidate for governor, Thursday, Sept. 25, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.; Cutler, candidate for governor: Tuesday, Oct. 7, 9 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.; Candidates running for Maine’s 1st Congressional District: Friday, Oct. 10, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.; Candidates running for Portland City Council: Tuesday, Oct. 21, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
