SOUTH PORTLAND – The annual 100.9 Stuff the Bus Food Drive, which is headlined by local radio host Chuck Igo, kicks off this week.
Between Nov. 21 and Nov. 26, hundreds of students from schools in South Portland, Cape Elizabeth and Scarborough, along with community volunteers, will help radio station stuff a bus to feed the hungry.
During the past eight years, the Stuff the Bus food drive has brought in more than 1 million pounds of food to the Preble Street soup kitchens and food pantry in Portland. Preble Street serves three meals a day, 365 days a year at its three soup kitchens.
On Tuesday, Nov. 25, the big yellow Custom Coach & Limousine bus will be parked at the Hannaford grocery store near The Maine Mall in South Portland. Donations of nonperishable food will be collected between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. To make a monetary donation, go online to https://www.preblestreet.org/donate.php.
