Please join us in welcoming Haley Foydel, the new Preble Street Volunteer Manager! In addition to remarkable energy, passion, and warmth, Haley brings a wealth of experience as a nonprofit project coordinator, a general manager of a restaurant group, a volunteer at Preble Street, and much more. Here, we share a short Q & A with her.
How did you first get involved with Preble Street, and what made you want to work here?
I started volunteering in the Resource Center Kitchen this summer. I saw the mission of Preble Street embodied in the staff and volunteers who welcomed me from my first day on. The impact of the work was palpable, and the sense of community was really energizing.
What are you most looking forward to in your new role?
Getting to know volunteers, clients, and staff!
What would you tell someone who was interested in volunteering at Preble Street?
There is a place for everyone here, and a shared sense of community and purpose that you’ll feel when you come through the door for the first time.
What do you do when you’re not working?
I swim every day and have coached in the competitive realm for the last few years. I did try to learn to bake during quarantine, but the lesson learned was that some things are best left to my wife.
