Preble Street Central Kitchen staff always look forward to Saturdays, because they know they’ll be cooking alongside January Volunteer of the Month, James. “He brings such warmth and kindness to the space,” they shared. “He is gentle and easy going and has become a really special part of our team.”
James, pictured here with flowers he received on his birthday, has been volunteering at Preble Street every week for over a year. While he works hard at anything that needs doing — cooking, cleaning, or packaging meals to be brought to clients — it’s the joy he brings to the kitchen that staff appreciate most. “He’s always so bright and positive! When we joke around he throws back his head with a big, contagious laugh.”
