We must stop preventable overdose deaths

“More people died of an overdose in Maine in 2020 than of COVID-19. Although we don’t have a vaccine for Substance Use Disorder, we do have an antidote. It is the evidenced-based practices that are proven effective in treating it — access to treatment, harm reduction services, and mental health and peer support, and perhaps most importantly, educating our community to reduce stigma and promote compassion.” — Andrew Bove, Preble Street Street Outreach Collaborative Director

According to a recent article from the Portland Press Herald, there were 502 overdose deaths in Maine in 2020. In 2021, this number is already growing.

Please join us in supporting housing first programs, harm reduction services, and substance use disorder treatment to stop these preventable deaths within our communities.
